SEIMA President Message
Dear SEIMA Members,
As we move into the fall season, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the progress SEIMA has made over the past several months and share some exciting updates on what lies ahead for our association.
One of the most important initiatives for SEIMA this year has been the introduction of our new membership structure. This updated framework was developed to simplify engagement with the association while providing greater value to our members. Through this new model, members can access discounted registration rates for SEIMA events, exclusive member communications, and additional opportunities to connect with Saskatchewan’s environmental community. If you have not yet renewed or registered under the new membership format, I encourage you to register and take advantage of the benefits available to you.
Over the summer, we remained focused on our core mission with networking and learning opportunities. SEIMA hosted two successful networking events in Regina and Saskatoon, that brought together professionals from across the environmental sector to share experiences and build relationships. We also hosted a tour at the Saskatoon Water Treatment Plant and delivered a webinar that provided members with valuable technical and industry insights from an insurer’s perspective. These events reinforce the importance of creating opportunities for collaboration, learning, and professional growth within our community.
I am also pleased to share that work continues on the development of SEIMA’s new website. The refreshed platform will provide improved access to information, event registration, membership services, and communications. We anticipate launching the new website in the coming weeks and look forward to providing members with a more modern and user-friendly online experience.
Looking ahead, I encourage all members to mark their calendars for SEIMA’s Annual General Meeting, which will be held on November 24th at The Willows Golf Club in Saskatoon. The AGM provides an important opportunity to review the association’s activities, celebrate accomplishments, discuss priorities for the coming year, and connect with fellow members. Please watch your inboxes for more information to come.
This year's AGM will also mark a significant transition for our Board of Directors. Brett Reynolds and June Lu have reached their term limits and will be stepping down from their board positions after their dedicated service to SEIMA. On behalf of the Board and our membership, I would like to thank both Brett and June for their contributions and commitment to advancing the association. Their efforts have helped strengthen SEIMA and support the environmental sector in Saskatchewan. As a result of these departures, we will be seeking up to two new directors to join the Board. Serving on the Board is an excellent opportunity to help shape SEIMA’s future, contribute to the environmental industry, and support our ongoing mission. I encourage members interested in becoming more involved to consider putting their names forward.
Finally, I would be remiss if I failed to mention SustainTechTM. Planning for the 2027 conference is underway and we are gearing up for the best one yet. Start thinking about what you can present on for the technical sessions, as the call for abstracts will be coming your way in October. SustainTechTM is Saskatchewan’s premier environmental industry event and the best opportunity to showcase one's work with over 300 attendees, eager to learn and network.
As always, SEIMA remains committed to supporting Saskatchewan’s environmental industry by facilitating the exchange of knowledge, fostering professional connections, and creating opportunities for collaboration. I am proud of what we have accomplished together this year and excited for the initiatives still to come.
