SWAN Project Kick-Off & Networking Event

Saskatchewan Water Action Network (SWAN) in association with University of Saskatchewan is pleased to invite you to a SWAN Project Kick-Off & Networking Event

February 10, 2016

Wastewater is a valuable untapped resource. Water is more valuable than oil. You can live without food for 30 days; you can only live without water for 3 days. The world continues to find and roll out solutions that have tremendous advantages over legacy based solutions, but these solutions are slow to be adopted and slow to be leveraged or collaborated around in order to advance them to the next level.

This event will enable growth and advancement in the areas of environmental, social and economic impact related to water management and water treatment infrastructure. As a follow up to the previous SWAN event, the theme continues to be “Water Recovery & Reuse”.  This event however will focus primarily on:

  • municipal sewage and septic hauling,
  • advanced treatment, and
  • recovery/reuse of water and fertilizer.

The new SWAN mandate is to hold annual events that have more focus on tangible outcomes. These events will create more formalized relationships, alliances and projects (e.g. leave with new learning & networks but also with new action items and deliverables).

 Agenda and Deliverables include:

1)    Educational presentations

2)    Formal announcement and kick off of NW Saskatoon Wastewater Treatment and Recovery Plant (WWTRP) Center of Excellence (COE)

3)    Announcements of sub projects related to NW Saskatoon WWTRP COE and discussion of new opportunities (new projects, grants...)

4)    Review of new potential projects and grants (based on attendee requests and discussions)

5)    Review and update SWAN Mandate and Charter

6)    Action Items and Next Steps

7)    Formal networking event
