The Saskatchewan Environment Industry and Managers Association (SEIMA), is pleased to partner with the Ministry of Environment to offer an in-person engagement session on policy matters dealing with financial assurances for industrial waste works.  Industrial waste works (IWW) are any facility or operation collecting, containing, storing, transmitting, treating or disposing of industrial wastes (Section 2(s) of EMPA 2010). Such facilities or operations may be associated with mining or milling operations, petroleum upgraders and refineries, coal-fired power generating plants, ethanol or biodiesel processing plants, canola and oilseeds crushing facilities, wood treatment facilities, wood product manufacturing facilities, or facilities that treat, store, transport or dispose of specific thresholds of industrial, hazardous or solid waste (Section 8(2) of the EMP Regulations).

This session should be of interest to those environmental managers and professionals involved in the management or permitting of such works, or in consulting as to their management or permitting. This is your opportunity to engage on several policy matters with Ministry officials and others in industry.

SEIMA and the Ministry of Environment intend to follow up on this session with a workshop on financial assurances for industrial waste works in October 2017.

The cost to register for this session is $100 (plus taxes) for SEIMA members and $125 (plus taxes) for non-members. A continental breakfast is included with registration.

SEIMA requires a minimum of 20 participants for this session so please register by June 2nd so we may confirm that the event will proceed as planned.
