SustainTech 2018 – Luncheon Keynote

 “Evaluating climate risks and developing adaptation strategies to manage risk and take advantage of a warming climate - examples from and for business."

Dr. Dave Sauchyn is a Professor of Geography and Environmental Studies at the University of Regina, where he’s been for the past 35 years. Since 2000, Dave has been affiliated with the Prairie Adaptation Research Collaborative. His main research interests are 1) the climate and hydrology of the past millennium and how knowledge of the past can inform scenarios of future climate and water supplies, and 2) planned adaption to minimize the adverse impacts of climate change on the natural capital of Canada’s western Interior. During 2011-16, Dave co-directed a an interdisciplinary study of the vulnerability of agricultural communities to climate extremes in Chile, Argentina, Colombia and Brazil and the Canadian Prairies. He recently accepted the task of coordinating lead author the Prairies chapter for the current national assessment of climate change.
