The
Duty to Consult in Saskatchewan: Building
Understanding, Improving Outcomes
A Forum
for Consultants working with First Nations and Métis
This one day session will
provide consultants working or planning to work with First Nations and Métis
communities with an understanding of the duty to consult in Saskatchewan. It will cover the Government
of Saskatchewan’s duty to consult policy, roles for consultants during
engagement and duty consultations, and opportunities for funding.
This information will help
increase understanding and better position consultants to work with First
Nations and Métis communities or proponents.
This
workshop is offered through a partnership between SEIMA and the Ministry of
Government Relations, Lands and Consultation Unit. The Lands and Consultation Unit manages and coordinates Government’s obligations
under the Treaty Land Entitlement process and ensures Government meets it
duty to consult obligations as set out in the First Nation and Métis
Consultation Policy Framework (CPF).
The Unit also manages the First Nations and Métis Consultation
Participation Fund.
