Dr. Terry Hanley, Director of Science, Monitoring and Information and Heather Davies, State of the Watershed Scientist with the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority, will present the recently-released 2010 State of the Watershed Report.
The State of the Watershed Report is an indicator-based assessment of the health of Saskatchewan’s 29 watersheds. It is based on a model of a watershed that explicitly recognizes relationships between the health of the watershed (condition), human impacts on the ecosystem (stressors), and the associated management activities (responses) that have been adopted to mitigate the stresses and improve the health of the watersheds. The report is intended to provide water managers with the sound scientific information needed to make informed decisions at the local, watershed, and provincial level. Dr. Hanley and Heather Davies will discuss the development of State of the Watershed Reporting and key findings from the 2010 report.
