"&gt; –&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt; The Saskatchewan Environmental Industry and
Managers Association (SEIMA) is pleased to announce that former SEIMA President
Jon Gillies, P.Eng., is the recipient of the SaskEnergy Environmental Industry
Leadership Award (EILA).&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;



&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;The SaskEnergy EILA recognizes the
outstanding contribution of an individual who has provided significant and recognizable
leadership and development of the environmental industry in Saskatchewan.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;



&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;“We all know that Saskatchewan is a leader when it comes to
reducing our impact on the environment.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;
&lt;/span&gt;SaskEnergy shares in that passion, and continues to be an advocate for
environmental stewardship, both in our business operations and in the
community,” said Kevin Doherty, MLA Regina Northeast, on behalf of Honourable
Dustin Duncan, Minister Responsible for SaskEnergy.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;“This award is a great opportunity to
recognize the outstanding environmental work Saskatchewan people are doing at
the grass roots level.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;Thanks to the
efforts of people like Mr. Gillies, I am confident that our future generations
will continue with this work.”&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;



&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;Gillies has served as President of the
Canadian Water Resources Association and Chair of the “We are the River”
conference.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;He has also served on
several water-focused committees for the protection of the Meewasin Valley,
which received a Governor General’s Conservation Award in 1984, and earned him
a volunteer recognition award from the City of Saskatoon.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;Gillies received the Canadian National
Committee for Irrigation and Drainage Award for Environment and Water
Management in 2001, and the Dr. Wolbeer Award from the Canadian Water
Resources, Saskatchewan Branch in 2005.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;
&lt;/span&gt;Most recently, he served as an advisor to the Pilot Butte Sustainable
Community Development project.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;



&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;“Jon has dedicated his professional, and
much of his personal, life to the education of Saskatchewan students and the
protection of the province’s environment and water resources,” said Jim
Finnigan, SEIMA Board President.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;



&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;Gillies will be presented with the award at
the EnerCan West: Energy and the Environment conference and trade show hosted by
SEIMA February 13th and 14th at the Delta Regina.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;



&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;SEIMA is a member-based industry
association providing industry support through professional development
opportunities, marketing support and informational seminars to its nearly 200
member businesses, environmental practitioners and post-secondary students. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;



&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;Gillies completed a B.E. in 1964, at the
University of Saskatchewan, College of Engineering, in Soil &amp;amp; Water
(Agricultural), and a M.Sc. at the College of Graduate Studies, University of
Saskatchewan, Hydrology (Soil &amp;amp; Water) in 1968. He has been a member of the
Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
since 1967. Gillies served two terms as the President of the Board for SEIMA
from 2007 to 2009, continuing as Past President for an additional year.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;br&gt; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;
